It’s that time of the year when we slow down from our labors to celebrate Christmas and the year past and catch up with family and friends. One of our family traditions is to watch the Village Christmas play at Mavuno, which we plan to do this Friday (final performance, 5.30pm at the Mavuno Dome). Meanwhile, it’s been good taking a break from the office, visiting shags, hanging out with the fam, and engaging in my current hobby, gardening. As the shrink reportedly said, ‘mirror, mirror on the wall, I’m my parent’s after all!’
One of my goals for 2011 is to read through the bible. This is something I’ve done several times including this last year and I’d like to invite as many as would like to do it with me. This year, I discovered a very handy sized ‘One Year Bible’ that breaks down the entire bible into daily readings, so that all I have to do each day is to go to that particular date and read that day’s reading. Reading it has become an essential part of my day. I bought mine for about 1300/- but the good news is that we were able to negotiate with Tyndale, the American publisher, for a wholesale price of around 900/-. Only managed to get a few copies though and I’m hoping we’ll have them at church on Sunday for anyone who’s interested.
Had a good time reflecting on 2010, and you can read my musings here if you like.
Meanwhile, I’m really psyching to start running again. The spirit is very willing but aargh… this thing called the flesh!
